Do It Yourself

Unless you are a real handyman you probably will not be able to completely remodel your bathroom by yourself. However, there are several redecorating projects that you can do yourself. In order to find something that you would like to do you should look through magazines to find something that you like. Of course, you are going to have to have realistic expectations. This means that you should borrow ideas but be willing to accept something that is less than perfect.

Once you have found a theme that you would like to use, then you should look at shade cards at your paint store. This will help you to decide which shades of paint will go with your theme. There are probably a lot of shades of colors that you have never thought of using before.

While it would be easy to just use a flat coat of paint, you should know that there are a lot of easy techniques that you can use to add some fun and creativity to your home improvement project. You can use stenciling, stippling or a rag finish. It just depends upon how artistically inclined you are. If you are real artistic you could even draw a border design. Otherwise you should opt for stencils and rub-on transfers that can be purchased from a craft store.

After you do your walls, you can easily update your bathroom by changing the light fixtures and faucets or by just adding new toothbrush holders and soap dispensers. You can also place framed art or other decorative elements on your wall or candles by your bathtub. There is always the possibility of adding a new magazine rack or a magnifying vanity mirror as well.

Once you are done decorating your bathroom look for some color coordinated rugs and towels to add the finishing touch. This can be the icing on the cake of your bathroom-remodeling project, something that you can completely take all of the credit for.
